The Dublin Staff Relay is Ireland’s newest innovative team event encouraging workers from all over Dublin and its surrounds to join their colleagues in a fun 5 x 5km relay. The 3rd annual staging of the relay takes place at 6pm on Thursday 23rd May 2013 in the Phoenix Park, where public service meets private sector, bankers join bakers, gardai take on waiters and nurses line up beside builders in this all encompassing mass participation event.
For one night only temporary tents will line the roads of the Phoenix Park to make up the Staff Relay Village. These tents will act as company HQ where uniforms, overalls, suits, high heels and any talk of deadlines, objectives or sales figures is strictly forbidden. The only item on the agenda is employees letting their hair down, having fun and perhaps showing their competitors a thing or two in the playing field.
The 2012 event saw 2000+ participants, no talk of recession, cuts, or bailouts but instead just fantastic teamwork, 22 degrees of sunshine and plenty of craic!
How it works
To get involved is simple – each team comprises of five runners and each runner is responsible for a 5km leg of the relay. The final km of each leg passes through the Staff Relay Village where your co-workers will be waiting to cheer, encourage or in some cases rile you as you complete your distance. The objective and focus of the event is not winning medals or posting record times but on building morale, camaraderie and teamwork whilst having the craic!
Spot prizes on the night will be offered to the teams deemed to be having the most fun and celebrities will be onsite to add to your experience and join in the merriment.
Our nominated charity for the event is Irish Autism Action. Irish Autism Action Patron & Dublin Staff Relay Ambassador Keith Duffy will once again be participating will be on hand to meet all on the night.
The Dublin Staff Relay is a unique team event, where staff members participate in a fun, relaxed and healthy activity. As well as the obvious challenge of completing the 25km route, one of the other key objectives of the event is to create an environment for staff to enjoy themselves outside of the typical working day!
The starting line represented the beginning of a great team building exercise and the finishing line was the ticket to join in Dublin’s largest staff party.
